As a result of the recent surge in the popularity of strap-on dildos, many individuals have begun using them to fulfill their various sexual urges. Beyond the simple convenience and near infinite adjustability that these items offer, a more prominent effective satisfaction is sought after; convenience and adjustability being two of the primary reasons for this. Strap-on dildos provide sensations very similar to those of a 'real' dildo, but some people are concerned that the full level of sexual fulfillment they once experienced cannot be obtained through using the strap-on.
To understand the specific difference between the strap-on dildo and the near perfect real experience, we must first understand what the strap-on itself is. A special type of sex toy, shoulder strapped dildos if I may call them that, act as a sort of prosthetic device - wearable and private for the user. The backpack style (plastic or rubber) with adjustable straps is the common form; right or left shoulder based, any adjustment the user desires is possible. Adjustable strap-on dildos are indeed advantageous, best results being strived for by the constant small to medium sized adjustments made by the user.
In real life the feeling of a strap-on is not fully sensual. More advanced strap-ons come close, but all senses are lost when true skin contact and all that goes with it (muscle resistance, etc.) is removed. Real intercourse has and will always have, a unique and near unquantifiable sensuality that no current or future technology can fully or completely replicate. Strap-ons can and will always be a part of human sexual experience, but to me at least, the 'real' experience remains.
There is a big difference between strap-on dildos and the actual experience of wearing them: their way of use is completely different. In comparison to real experiences, shoulder straps on dildos are much easier to use; securing the straps is simple and adjusting them (in both angle and length) leads to near optimal results. It can be argued that, on the opposite side, real experiences require more skill and a certain form of care - the individual must at least be aware of the reactions of the other party, using all parts of their body (head, shoulders, waist if possible) to push towards some sort of maximal 'result'.

Overall, strap-on dildos are different. Safe, quick sexual gratification is what they offer. More sensual (to me at least) and/or emotional satisfaction is what a real experience provides. Real experiences are and should always be, to me at least, the end goal of all things sexual. Strap-ons can be a tool, but never the full experience.
